A Few New Things....

I know it's been awhile since i actually posted any scrap stuff here...

My computer took a huge crap twice and i had to re-install all my programs and i've not re uploaded my older pics so i don't have access to some stuff before July right now.

I do however have some new stuff i just finished for a swap, Gasp! you say!!! yes i did join a swap in one of the myspace grps. i didn't think i would ever again because of the drama, crappy stuff i get back and general lateness of ppl sending their stuff in. But Raquel asked and i said yes. it was a partner swap and we had a list of things to make, and i had Raquel for a partner so i pretty much knew what stuff she likes=]

grrrrr Photobucket!

i logged into the account i use for my tags on photobucket this evening and found they had deleted one of my tags for being too offensive. i shall let you be the judge....

yes this is it! i even found my inspiration on photobucket! it was a tag like this that someone else had made. i saved a copy so i could have it for inspiration as i made my own version of it. the truely stupid thing about all this, other than the fact that it is dumb all the way around, is that i had uploaded 7 other tags i had made with other's names on them and they weren't deleted. someone is very warped or the biggest prude in the world. i know there are things a million times worse than this floating around in albums on photobucket.

Birthdays and Motley Crue!!

yesterday i celebrated my 32nd birthday, well i guess if you wanna call going to the grocery store celebrating. i do have a twin sister, Melissa, but we don't get together to do anything. she is my opposite. i usually spend the day with my lil family:) this year tho i got to go see Motley Crue!!!! well they played the night before but.....

me and my older sis Tina have always loved Motley Crue and last month i heard on the radio they were coming to The Arena in Corbin. woo hoo, i called my sis immediately from the truck. she went online and saw that tickets went on sale the following Monday at 10 am. we were there! we didn't buy floor sets cause see didn't want spend that much but we got awesome seats just to the side of the stage and up some. we were about 50 ft from the stage, i'll add here that the arena is small and holds about 6000 ppl so there really aren't even any bad seats.
hubby volunteered to go with me but in the next breath asked what do they sing? i could have died! note here, we were just getting ready to go see Larry the Cableguy at The Arena. after that horrible nightmare of trying to get in and out we learned to park in town and take the shuttle bus. The Arena only has one way in and out, straight up a mountain side.

weather was giving severe storms and we had to stand in the rain in a looooong ass line waiting to get wanded and got wet. security comes down the line saying no cameras! i asked what we were supposed to do if we rode the shuttle, leave it in lost and found and get it later. i'm like shit no, i was ready to catch the shuttle back to my truck. Tina's friend Sandra had just dropped her son off tho and she came back for them. her son works there and had front row center! he got some awesome pics and shared cause my phone just couldn't get the job done:( he even got to pass the bottle from Tommy Lee. (swoon here) Love Tommy Lee!!!!!!

btw, this was my first ever concert. i had to buy my sis a beer cause she forgot her id, i don't drink tho. i think i was getting a buzz from all the beer fumes tho, LOL!!! my ears are still ringing just a little. it was so small inside, the crowd was so loud combined with the bass i could barely make out the words even to songs i know from way back. but all in all i loved it!!!!!!!

Blinkies

I have made 2 blinkies, YAY! these little boogers are a LOT of work but well worth it. They are for the tagger group i have become a co-moderator for on myspace, Soft Heart Designz. I followed the tutorial on Cen's Loft here. the first time i made one it just wasn't that great but i opened a blinkie from one of the scrap kits i've downloaded in photoshop and really saw how many layers there are. when i say layers i mean 40 or more. it's like making a cartoon, each graphic is moved a tiny bit on each layer and when it is animated, voila! i am very pleased with them and will make one for my blog at some point.

on a different note, a little over 2 weeks ago my little Maltese Popcorn was attacked by some dogs. he's such a little guy, barely 5 pounds, but thinks he's the resident bad ass. i heard our basset barking, sounded like she was barking at someone but she was looking off into the woods. no sign of Popcorn, he's always with Beauty when i let him out. i called and called. he slowly comes out of the woods and heads straight for the house. i put him in the bathroom, which is his room cause i was leaving. i got home a few hrs later and he was still shivering. as i was bathing him i found blood! scared the crap out of me!!!! he had 4 puncture wounds on his rear legs. 2 on each side and i couldn't get one to stop bleeding. our area vets suck!!! couldn't find one that was even in, this was a wed. afternoon. i held him wrapped in a towel all afternoon and evening. he's doing fine now and the wounds are healing but i worried all that evening about my baby.

Happy Birthday!

well i finished the card for Kristin's challenge. actually i finished it Sunday nite and here it is almost Thursday. took me that long to get around to uploading the pics from my little camera. truthfully i suck at making cards but there are so many birthdays this month thought i'd give it a go. my baby is turning 11 on the 21st and me and my twin sis celebrate our 32nd bday on the 17th.

i used the heart flower i made from one of Kristin's other tutorials. it was my intention while i was doing it to add it to a card. well i followed Kristin's instructions for making a pop up card so i finally had a reason to use it:) after i finished the card i realized that it was really pretty simple. i also suck at stamps but am pleased with how well this one turned out.

It's been a while.....

it has been awhile since i actually made a new post. i've been sorta busy with assorted things. i've done some pics and made some tags but over all i have had a HUGE creative block. i totally crapped out on some ATCs that i had to send on to Kristin. far from my best work.

but on a funner note i finally did the deed. what, you might ask? i finally dyed Chance's hair. we have been growing it out for 6 months so we could dye it to look like Johnny Test. i asked the woman that does my hair if she could do it and she told me that if i wanted to save money i should do it myself. she was talking about it costing me $70 or $80! all the dye together was just over$20. but i swear i would have paid it!!! at least as a boy i could shave it if it turned out looking like crap. after 3 hrs of applying chemicals i am actually proud of how it turned out.

i also put some in Isabelle's hair. i wasn't sure how that would turn out since i had to bleach Chance's hair before i put the golden color on. but wow!! the red really took!

which leads me to my hair. i got a perm 2 weeks ago. i was just so tired of it hanging and no real way to style it. i might also add that i have a very funky streak of gray growing in right in the front. i truly could care less but it seems to bother other ppl. so since i'm going to a Motley Crue concert for my birthday i thought why the hell not! insert the fact that i am also a tight wad and HATED the thought of dumping an almost full tub of red hilighting dye down the drain, i had to dump the bleach hilights, my hair is just too dark! it is no way as good as what i accomplished on the kids hair, it's hard to do your own hair, but i've got some red color there and could care less what others think.

Father's Day LO

yay! i got it done, this is from a sketch posted by Kristin over at her blog --> Leading A Craftastic Life

Photobucket

i've had it done for a few days now but i've been busy reading the Twilight books and hadn't gotten the pics uploaded.

i also did a new something thanks to Kristin, these are mayo jars i've been sorting flowers into. i'm slowing building up my supply. i got a bunch of punk type temporary tattoos and thought , hey there's nothing to lose. i put them on like you would normally do on yourself then painted mod podge over them. i actually like the way it turned out:)

Browsers

it all began yesterday afternoon. i kept getting pop ups, every time i opened internet explorer i would get a pop up. usually offering me virus scan or security software. i already have all that and it is all very up-to-date. so i started a virus scan but found nothing, still getting the pop-ups tho. i then locked down my firewall and dis-connected my internet line. then did another virus scan. still nothing. so i powered off and went to bed hoping i wasn't infected w/ a trojan or a worm. this morning i decided to download Firefox and give it a try. no pop-ups w/ it. i was getting pop-ups still this morning on IE. still getting used to Firefox.

i am beginning to wonder if it isn't just Microsoft trying to get me to download the newest version of IE. that's supposed to be one of it's features, enhanced pop-up blockers. i was only getting the same 5 or 6 ads. i know, sounds paranoid but...

Downloading Scrap Kits

well i was up until 2 am downloading scrapkits. i know that i don't have limitless storage space on my pc but it is just like buying regular scrapbooking supplies for me, addictive! if i like it i get it, might never use it but there ya go.i may actually do a few more digi LOs and post them here. i don't really know when i'll get them printed to put into a book but i'll have made them. i just need an outlet to put my creativity to work.

one thing i do know is that i need to go to bed earlier!

here is a digi LO i did awhile back....

btw, for some reason i have this need to make it look like a traditional scrap page even tho i love some of the really artistic LOs some ppl do.

A Few Scrap LOs

well as i've said i love to scrapbook, both in traditional and digital. this is one of my favorites. i used a template for the design and the journaling is the song "Long Trip Alone" by Dierks Bently. i took the pic of the kids walking along our driveway. i remembered seeing a challenge in one of my scrap groups and it just clicked. there is a line in the song that says, "Everybody stumbles sometimes and needs a hand to hold, 'Cause it's a long trip alone". it is my hope throughout life that when me and Scotty are gone, Isabelle will be there to help her big brother if he stumbles.

April is Autism Awareness Month!

April is Autism Awareness Month! what does that mean? it means that although autism affects 1 out of every 150 kids the majority of the world doesn't really know what autism is. before having this diagnosis for my son i was like everyone else. most people have the misconception that all autistic people are like Rain Man. this month autism groups are trying harder than other months to clear this misconception up. they also are trying to bring their studies to public attention, the cause of autism is still unknown and there is no known cure.

autism knows no social, racial, educational, financial or religious boundries. people from all different walks of life have been diagnosed with autism. autism is a spectrum disorder, meaning there are varying degrees of severity from very mild to sever.

my son is considered mild, but he also has a speech disability. i feel like that somewhere in his very complex mind there is a 'switch' and i continue to try to find a way to turn that 'switch' on. autism's main characteristic is that it affects how the person learns and understands. it has been described like this before; "the autistic mind has many broken 'wires' that aide in the learning process. in order to teach the autistic mind a new 'route' needs to be found." this is what i mean when i say i am searching for the switch. i can see that capabilities in my son, he is always right on the verge but unable to get all the way there. i continue to search.

please learn the warning signs of autism, because early intervention can mean the world to a child with autism.

Scrapbooking Groups

i am in a few scrapbooking groups on myspace. i have "met" a number of really nice women in them. actually the same ones in all the groups. lol... i began joining swaps about a year ago, i have even hosted a few. it started out being really fun, getting to share my work with others and getting some great things back. lately tho there has been so much drama and crap in the groups that swaps are no longer fun. i understand that everyone has a different level of ability and creativity when it comes to what i get back in a swap. i don't understand why someone would send something that is crap tho. i mean mixing christmas paper with halloween paper to make an autumn tag is something i don't get. it just seems like someone just slapping things together to call it done. especially if they don't sign their crappy work. i mean if you're gonna send it out you should own it. sign it, we all make something that just didn't turn out right.

i also hate when a swap is held up for a month or longer! because someone didn't send their stuff in on time. it burns my ass when that person starts giving excuses about job, family etc and some of the others just kiss their asses and say, "oh honey it's ok, this is just scrapbooking". umm, yeah! duh, you joined the swap now follow thru! i have a friggin' life too. would these same people tell their boss all these excuses for why they can't get a job done? if you make a commitment you should follow thru, no excuses. we all live outside of myspace but can still get our things sent in. you made the decision to sign-in and put your name down. it only takes a few minutes to drop things in the mailbox.

which brings me to another swap issue. the thief. yes i got screwed by a girl that hosted a number of swaps then has decided she just dosen't have the time to send anything back regardless of the fact she has everyone's SASE. she told me i was being a bitch because i just couldn't be understanding of the fact that the swap was 7 months late.

advice? beware at all times if you swap!

Happy Birthday Isabelle

today is my baby's 5th birthday. it just doesn't seem possible that she could already be that old. it feels like just a short time ago i was pregnant with her. wow! she is my stubborn child, we could never get her to reveal what her sex was during ultrasounds. each and every time she kept her feet firmly planted between her legs so nothing showed. after she was born my family headed to the stores so she would have some clothes to wear:)

the party theme this year is 'Maggie and the Ferocious Beast'. we found the party stuff at a "dollar store". i will make her cake and have already made her card. i have been making the invites for the kids parties the last few years too. i just google whatever the theme is and print them out on postcard blanks. it's cheaper to mail and i know that if the recipient trashes it i've not spent a ton of money on fancy invitations.

this is my first time at doing a 3D anything as well as stamping. the stamping was driving me nuts. i couldn't get a clear image or if it stamped clear then i got the edges of the mounting which to me is worse! i shall practice more to see how things go.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

well, gotta say it cause i do have Irish blood:) Happy St. Patrick's Day!!! i love the whole concept of the holiday although it isn't a big deal around here. most people see it as any other day but i love the history and legends associated with St. Patrick and Ireland. so......
Are you wearing green today???

Photobucket and browsers

argggggg, Photobucket has been giving me fits the last few days as well as my browser. the deal with my browser, IE whatever version, has been freezing up on me alot the last few days too. mainly when i am on this blogger account or Photobucket. i have had problems with Photobucket pics not showing up after posting a link in a forum. as i am in no way, shape or form a computer literate person, i just cross my fingers and hope for the best when shit starts happening. knock on wood but if the day comes that i don't check my accounts regularly then my poor pc has bit the dust. i'm hoping that never happens as i try to be very vigilant about safe sites etc but....

Christmas pics

This is the pic i did of the kids for Christmas. you're not likely to see many pics of me as i hate how much weight i've gained over the years. you will however see many pics of my kids, among other things. well it's really late and regretfully i have a very early appointment so i will come back another time to ramble a little more.

Tags by Vicky

These are a few of the tags i've made. i've only been doing them for a few months so they are not drop dead gorgeous but i'm learning and loving it!

sorry, will add a new slideshow later

this blog

hmmm, this blog. i created this blog so i could follow other blogs. lol it's a way to feed my addiction to scrapbooking in digital form as well as make signature tags. how often will i actually post any thing? well that remains to be seen. i'm only posting this right now because i'm waiting for some tags to upload to photobucket and for a scrap kit to download:) ohhh, and to kinda fill up all the blank space on my public profile. lol

hey, i may actually make a slide show of some of my tags and post them on here.

i'd love to do like some of the other women and learn how to make my own kits to offer for sell as well as freebies. i guess i should say that i work in photoshop elements. it was a gift for mom's day a few years back and as i am self taught for all this digital stuff i wasn't gonna get the expensive ps. now i want it since i've learned my way around:)

perhaps i'll post more rambles another day!
